5 Simple Ways To Disable The New Facebook Photo Viewer; Choice Is Yours!

Facebook, the most popular social networking site is undergoing more and more customization (Thank god! Mark is so social friendly). One of the important feature of the Facebook is the Photo Sharing Facility and the cool photo viewer. So, Facebook is really having more concentration on that part. But, the updated version of the Photo Viewer(Theater mode) is really disappointing. Especially the black thing around each photo that pop’s up, is really killing me. When i googled about it, i felt really happy  ‘cos about 90% of the Facebook members are not really happy about it. So, i decided to have an research on this topic. Finally, i ended up with five simple ways to disable this new feature. I tested each and all are 100% working. Here we go;

Manually Disable the ‘theater’ mode

1. Press F5. Yes!! Refresh The Page.

Yeah, i really meant that! This is one of the simplest way to get rid of the ‘Theater mode’. So, when you see the black pop up thing next time, simply hit the F5 button. Boom! the page refreshes along with the old Photo viewer. You can simply view the photos like you did in the good old days.

2. Delete ‘&theater’ from the URL

This is the first option that spread on the internet to disable the photo viewer. So, i thought i should give a position to it too! Here all you have to do is just select and delete the “&theater” text from the URL of the photo and hit enter. But, this is kind of tuff one when compared to the ‘Refresh’ trick. Especially when you are using Track pad, it is really difficult to move the curser each time to select and delete.

Use Browser Extensions

This is the latest and more effective way to disable the new Photo Viewer. The browser extensions are really the social networking life savers here. The Extensions to disable the new Photo Viewer are available for almost all the popular browsers. Trust me! It is really easy to use too.

3. Facebook Lightbox Killer

As the name says, it really kills/disable the Lightbox aka theater mode. It is currently available only to Firefox, Chrome and Rockmelt.

4. Revert Facebook Photo Viewer

This extension is currently available only for Chrome and Rockmelt. Runs silently and efficiently in the background, and only on Facebook pages. No icons, no settings, no “fancy photo viewer” nonsense anymore. All you have to do, is just refresh Facebook after loading the extension.

5. Better Facebook

It is a really useful and free extension to almost all popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. This extension can be used not only for disabling the ‘theater’ mode but also for customizing the Facebook to make it in the best and better way maximum possible. There are lot of options available to make the Facebooking more easier and better way. Really worth to try extension.

So these are the simple ways to disable the new Facebook Photo Viewer. The manually disabling mode is more useful when you are logging into your Facebook account from a Internet Cafe or other public places. If you are using your home network, then i prefer use of extensions, i bet you dont want to refresh or select and delete each time when click a photo. Anyway, choice is yours! Have a Happy Facebooking and nice Weekend.
