Motorola is not a big deal for some of you reading this. But, i must say, they know how to make great phones. I think, after the launch of Android OS Motorola really reconfigured their power to make amazing phones which are really great looking and have powerful specs. Of course, you cannot put the inventor of Cell phones in dark. Today, i am going to tell you about the great release from Motorola, called Motorola Photon 4G for Sprint Network in United States. The Motorola Photon 4G is a dual GSM/CDMA device with a pleasant octagonal design. Well, the specs seems somewhat same like the Motorola Atrix 4G, which is currently called as the powerful Android Smartphone from At&t. But, the octagonal edgy design is really great. It even have a kickstand to support the phone on the table for watching movies and all. Lot more to tell. Don’t forget to give article Google +1 if you liked it. Read ahead;
Motorola Photon 4G : Appearance
This is the part the Motorola really taken care of i think. The Motorola Photon 4G has a revolutionary octagonal edgy design which is really attractive. The photon 4G has a 4.3 inch, 540 x 960 pixels TFT capacitive touchscreen. There is nothing special about the screen like the Super AMOLED plus in Samsung Galaxy S 2. The photon 4G has a Accelerometer for UI auto-rotation and Proximity sensor for auto turn-off. The phone is available only in black colour.
There is a volume rocker key on the side, a camera button and another important thing is an integrated kickstand on the back. Motorola Photon 4G is the first phone from Motorola which have a kickstand to keep the phone in table. This helps you to enjoy your favourite movies, pictures by placing your phone on a surface and by resting on your back. The Motorola Photon 4G is only 158g and 12.2 mm thick, makes a quite handy device.
Motorola Photon 4G : Software and Hardware
Motorola 4G is an Android Gingerbread dual core device for Sprint USA. The 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H Dual Core processor is really a great addiction to the device which makes the Photon 4G a perfect device for multitasking and web surfing. Another great thing to say is the internal memory which is 16GB and can be upgraded to 32GB using external card slot. The photon 4G do have a 1GB RAM and 2GB ROM.
The phone has a Li-Po 1700 mAh battery (not Li-ion) which offers great standby time and talktime Up to 10 hours (2G) / Up to 9 hours (3G).
Motorola Photon 4G : Camera and Other Features
This is one of the part where Photon 4G is different from Atrix 4G. The Camera is upgraded in Motorola Photon 4G to 8MP from the 5MP that you can see on Atrix 4G. The 8MP camera autofocus camera can shot 720p videos @30fps. The Camera has a Dual-LED flash and Geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization features. I think an update to the firmware will upgrade this to a camera which can shot 1080p videos. The phone do have a VGA front facing camera for video calling.
Other features include, Motorola Photon 4G supports 3G @ Rev. A, up to 3.1 Mbps, LTE, No EDGE and GPRS featuers, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n network, WiMax, has a Bluetooth v2.1(expected v3.0), GPS, A-GPS, FM radio. The video player will support H.263, H.264 AVC, MPEG-4 SP, DivX, Xvid videos and Audio player supports AAC, AMR-NB/WB, MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG files without any problem. Adobe Flash 10.1 support for browser and an active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The phone can also act like a Wi-Fi Hotspot which is also called tethering technique.
Motorola Photon 4G : Price, Competitors and Final Words
Motorola Photon 4G is not the only dual core android phone from Sprint. But, the design, features, build in kickstand truly makes the device unique in this category. The young brother Atrix 4G can be considered as a competetor as only difference other than the design exist between them is the Camera. So, i think if you go for Atrix 4G instead of Motorola Photon 4G you can save yourself some bucks. But, you will surely miss the unique octagonal design of Photon 4G.
The price of Motorola Photon 4G is nearly around $200 with a 2 yr contract with Sprint US. Of course the device is a GSM phone too so you will get the SIM free version. Motorola Photon 4G price in India (SIM FREE VERSION) will be around $700 or INR 32000. Thank you for reading.
