Samsung Launched I9003 Galaxy SL 4GB In India; Specification & Price

Its like more than 6+ months since Samsung Galaxy S launched in India. But, Samsung failed to keep the product updated and manage to release new updated models of Galaxy S in India, like they did in US and other countries. Finally, after 6+ months Samsung released a 4GB revised edition Samsung Galaxy SL, which is kind of affordable than the big brother, the Original Galaxy S. It has almost same specifications except in the case of included memory and display. Let’s have a look at the specifications and price;

The Samsung Galaxy I9003 Galaxy SL has a Super Clear LCD which is somewhat inferior to SuperAMOLED. The new bit is that its internal memory has been reduced to 4GB. Luckily the microSD card slot is still here, supporting up to 32GB card, so you can still get some extra storage if you run out of memory at some point. The phone has 4″ 16M-colour Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution. It’s really hard to spot a difference in the outside. The phone is slim built only 10.9mm thick( more thicker than Original Galaxy S). The phone is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, PowerVR SGX530 GPU, TI OMAP 3630 chipset; 478MB of RAM available to the user. It has a Less capable GPU compared to the original Galaxy S.

The phone has the same 5MP camera which is capable of recording 720p video like on the original Galaxy S. The phone is loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo. Hope that the new version of Android (v2.3) will be available soon. There is also a secondary camera which can be used for video calling. Other features like GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g and n support, 3G 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support, Adobe Flash 10.1 support for the web browser is also available.

One of the important change is the improved battery. The Samsung Galaxy I9003 SL is powered by a 1650 mAh over the original Galaxy S (1500 mAh) which promises more talktime and standby time( in fact, at the end of the day, battery life is all we wanted ah?). The camera still lacks flash. The body is all plastic made which is really a finger print magnet.

The Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL 4GB Edition is priced around 19000 INR (about $420) and is currently available for purchase in India. There is no word about the availability outside India. For Rs 19,000 Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL 4GB is a good choice(than the Samsung Wave II, which is loaded with the BADA OS). So, what  do you think about this Android Smartphone from Samsung, will it get noticed like his big brother or not? Feel free to share your comments.

  2. I am very confused on geting a Galaxy S or Galaxy SL i 9003. Can u help? I din't see two phones in person so I dont know the difference between Amoled and this LCD. I need phone for the following things,
    1. Internet via Wifi 2. 4 inch screen for better texting and typing 3. I see videos more thru u tube. That will be the most i use internet for 4. And enough space to hold songs and videos a normal human being need.

    • AMOLED screen is Of Course better than LCD screen… Galaxy S offers more colorful and crystal clear display than SL. If you watch videos in Mobile than Galaxy S is the best choice.. Well, i suggest you must go to a mobile store and see the magic in real. Hope you will make a good decision. And, do return and comment here after buying the phone. Thank you Senthil.
